A Q&A with Waterside Aesthetics founder Carole Lacey about the Dermalux Flex. .
1) How long have you been working with Dermalux Flex?
I’ve been working with Dermalux since 2021 but I had been to a seminar and was watching the results of treatments at least 18 months before. Unfortunately lockdown came along so I couldn’t buy it. I had to wait, but it was worth it.
2) What was it that first interested you about the treatment?
What initially got my attention was that it gains astonishing results in treating clients with rosacea and acne rosacea. It is also wonderful for client's who have sensitivity and redness but may want treatments for vein removal, oiliness, acne, pigmentation or pore probs. I always suggest a treatment of Dermalux first for all these clients because it is important we tackle the sensitivity issues before before we can treat any of the other problems. Dermalux is fabulous at healing the skin, calming the redness and reducing sensitivity so that we have firm foundation to continue other therapies.
3) Can you tell us how it works?
Dermalux Flex is a form of Light Emitting Diode (LED) Phototherapy. It's therefore a non-evasive treatment that uses specific non-thermal light to energise cells and trigger a cascade of bio-stimulating responses. Dermalux® systems use only clinically proven wavelengths delivered at the optimised intensity and dose enabling effective photo biomodulation of targeted cells and skin tissue with proven results.

Red 633nm

Near Infrared 830nm
Exposure to Near Infrared light at 830nm triggers the skins anti-inflammatory processes to accelerate repair and reduce irritation and redness.
The long and short of it is that it's been proven to help the skin rejuvenate and can successfully treat acne, pigmentation problems, inflammation, rosacea and psoriasis. It is also a perfect treatment for wound healing, sports injuries and pain relief.
4) What do you mostly use it for?
I try to use Dermalux on every client I can and as often as I can. For example, if someone has electrolysis, I used to just put some aftercare lotion on and let them leave. Now I always use Dermalux after the electrolysis as it reduces inflammation, destroys bacteria and helps avoid future breakouts. I also use it after all my lazer treatments except after hair removal which doesn't really need it. I definitely use it after all my ZO facials and SkinPen treatments as it truly calms the skin and leaves it glowing. In fact, there are very few treatments I wouldn't follow up after with Dermalux, I just love it what it does for people's skin.
5) What has been your experience of the best result that you have achieved with it on a client?
One of my best experiences using Dermalux is treating acne. I’ve had young guys and girls come to me whose lives have been devastated by acne. Dermalux instantly reduces the bacteria in the skin, calming it and helping to control the acne. It has literally changed the lives of many young people and instilled them with confidence.
6) Do you use it personally and if so why and what has been the result?
Oh yes, I definitely use Dermalux personally and on a very regular basis! I suffer from redness on my cheeks and chin and Dermalux helps calm this. I’m also 62 so I need as much regeneration as I can get and Dermalux provides this. It actually increases cell regeneration by 200%. I like to think of it metaphorically like this - think of your skin like lots of little lights. When you get to a certain age, become stressed and rundown or have problems, the lights begin to waver, become dull or just switch off. Dermalux switches them all back on again and they gleam with health. This makes your skin look bright, hydrated, plump and generally gives you a healthy glow. I absolutely swear by it.
